CAT AR-15 Talon Tool

Want to clean out those hard to reach places? The CAT AR-15 Talon Tool is a stainless steel scraping tool that precisely mates with the locking lugs inside the barrel extension. Rotating the tool against the lugs quickly scrapes carbon away. Unlike a brush, it cannot bend away from the lugs. 

Want an even deeper clean? Attach one bore brush in the standard 8/32 screw head.

The CAT AR-15 Talon Tool is designed for rapid cleaning of the chamber locking lugs and lug recesses in AR type semi-auto rifles. It’s a lug pick that scrapes all eight lugs at once. Debris are trapped inside it’s recesses for immediate removal. The Talon was developed to rapidly remove carbon, sand, or brass shavings from the lug area, with the use of solvent, in the field. It also makes a good tool to use ahead of a chamber mop and solvent during regular cleaning.

How to use it:

1. Clear the weapon and remove the bolt carrier and charging handle.
2. Insert the opened Talon Tool in place of the bolt carrier.
3. Rotate the Talon handle slowly, while inserting into the upper receiver.
4. Using the fingers of the support hand, apply a slight amount of lateral pressure to the tool shaft. This “offset” keeps the tool head from being extracted as it is pulled to the rear in the next step.
5. While pressing the shaft sideways with one hand, pull the tool handle gently to the rear with the other, and rotate.

One full rotation of the tool scrapes each lug eight times.
