For shooters who prefer traditional stainless construction, Proof Research produces a full line of 416R stainless steel barrel blanks and chambered barrels built to the same match-grade standards as their carbon fiber line. Stainless Proof barrels are rifled using single-point cut rifling, lead-lapped, and inspected at multiple quality control stations. They offer familiar thermal behavior and a lower entry price than carbon fiber options while still holding Proof's standard for bore consistency and accuracy.

• Sporter: lightweight, slim profile for hunting and general use

• M24: classic military and precision contour
• Competition/Heavy Competition: purpose built for precision rifle competition

Proof Research barrels are available in several configurations, and selecting the right option comes down to your rifle platform, intended use, and how you prioritize weight versus cost.

General Considerations:

• Barrel Length: Effects velocity more than accuracy, with each inch adding or subtracting roughly 25 fps. Shorter barrels can be very consistent due to reduced flex. Match the length to what your platform and application actually demand.
• Twist Rate: Twist determines which bullets a barrel will stabilize. Faster twist rates (lower numbers) handle heavier, longer projectiles.
